English Wikipedia
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Notability is a test used by editors to decide whether a given topic warrants its own article. Information on Wikipedia must be verifiable; if no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, then it should not have a separate article. Wikipedia's concept of notability applies this basic standard to avoid indiscriminate inclusion of topics. Article and list topics must be notable, or "worthy of notice". Determining notability does not necessarily depend on things such as fame, importance, or popularity—although those may enhance the acceptability of a subject that meets the guidelines explained below.

- The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.
- The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.
- The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
- The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.
- The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.
- The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society.
- The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.
- The person has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.

[Quelltext bearbeiten]Die Relevanzkriterien sollen dabei helfen, die Relevanz von Artikelgegenständen für die deutschsprachige Wikipedia zu beurteilen. Die Relevanz kann bei geplanten Artikeln anhand dieser Kriterien vorab im Relevanzcheck geprüft werden. Dass die jeweiligen Bedingungen erfüllt sind, muss aus dem Artikel klar hervorgehen und durch Quellenangaben belegt werden.
Erfüllt ein Thema eines der hier beschriebenen Kriterien, so ist es für die Wikipedia relevant. Ein Artikel über ein relevantes Thema kann nur dann gelöscht werden, wenn andere wichtige Gründe bestehen. Erfüllt ein Thema die nachfolgenden Kriterien nicht, so muss das nicht zwingend zum Ausschluss dieses Artikelgegenstands führen, es müssen dann aber andere stichhaltige Argumente für dessen Relevanz angeführt werden. Als enzyklopädisch relevant gilt eine Wissenschaftlerin, deren wissenschaftliche Arbeit im entsprechenden Fachgebiet als bedeutend angesehen wird. Dies gilt zumeist für Wissenschaftlerinnen, die:
- eine Professur an einer anerkannten Hochschule erreicht haben (jedoch keine Juniorprofessuren)
Enzyklopädisch relevant sind Wissenschaftlerinnen, die:
- einen anerkannten Wissenschaftspreis erhalten haben (etwa Wolf-Preis oder Leibniz-Preis),
- aufgrund ihrer wissenschaftlichen Leistungen international anerkannt sind,
- Inhaberinnen eines hohen Amtes innerhalb einer weiterführenden Lehranstalt sind (zum Beispiel Rektorinnen oder Präsidentinnen einer Hochschule) oder
- Erstbeschreiberinnen oder (wissenschaftlicher) Namensgeberinnen
Die Bedeutung der Forschungsarbeit der Wissenschaftlerin soll im Artikel erkennbar sein. Insbesondere ist es nicht ausreichend, ausschließlich den Lebenslauf der Forscherin von Geburt über Schule und Studium bis zur Professur zusammenzufassen.
Francophone Wikipedia

For scientifics, obtaining a prize like the Fiels medal, or the gold or silver medal from the CNRS makes the subject notable for Wikipedia.
