Quality Criteria
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Translation of Monuments Descriptions (Proposed Policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Generic terms in the official monuments descriptions (like "library", "church", "railway station", "ruins", etc.) are translated into the language of the respective Wikipedia. For example, the German Wikipedia has in the commune of Alto Malcantone: "Pfarrkirche San Michele" and not "Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Michele".
Official names in another language are kept in the original. For example, the German Wikipedia has in the commune of Kaiseraugst: "Augusta Raurica (Unterstadt), römische Stadt / spätrömisches Kastell"; the name "Augusta Raurica" is not translated. Similarly the German Wikipedia would have in the city of Lugano: "Casa Citron", and not "Haus Citron".
Translations of generic terms are usually not accompanied by the original version in brackets. The original version is given in the monuments list of the respective language version of Wikipedia. Example: If a German speaking person wants to know how "Pfarrkirche San Michele" is called in Italian, they can switch to the list in Italian, where they will find the entry "Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Michele". There is one exception to that rule: As we are not planning to render the monuments lists in Romansh, the original Romansh version is included in brackets, e.g. in the German version of the monuments list for Domat/Ems: "Kapelle San Pieder (Chaplutta S. Pieder)".
Coordinates (Proposed Policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]For the definition of coordinates, the following conventions are applied:
- Single Objects: The coordinate is placed in the constructed area of the building (e.g. at the center; in the PCP inventory, the coordinates are usually set at the same point as the orange dot in the "Register of Buildings and Dwellings" layer of the GIS-platform of the PCP section.
- Bridges: The coordinate is placed in the middle of the bridge.
- Multiple Objects: The coordinate is placed on the main building of the multiple object (e.g. in the case of monasteries, castles, etc.) or at the center of the perimeter (park, garden, archeological site, etc.)
These conventions correspond to the practice of the PCP Section of the Federal Office of Civil Protection. The different cantons may set their coordinates according to different conventions.
Sources (Questions to address by a policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]How do we indicate sources? (How to cite monuments lists? – PDFs or Excel-File? How to cite entries on GIS portals? How to deal with the fact that the PDFs provided by the PCP Section of the FOCP are replaced and renamed every year, making links defunct?)
PCP numbers of objects that stretch across several municipalities (Proposed Policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Objects that stretch across several municipalities are assigned a separate PCP number for each municipality. Examples: the Sitterviadukt has two PCP numbers for the same object: 8304 under St. Gallen and 460 under Appenzell Ausserrhoden; the Eisenbahnviadukt Koblenz-Felsenau also has two PCP numbers: 10514 in Koblenz AG, and 9875 in Leuggern AG; the archeological site "Wauwilermoos" in the canton of Lucerne has 5 PCP numbers (but one and the same coordinate) as the site stretches across 5 communes)
Separate entries for collections and protected buildings (Proposed Policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]The monuments lists on Wikipedia have an entry for each object that has a separate PCP number. If a protected collection is located in a protected building they have two separate entries.
Photos of collections (Questions to address by a policy)
[Quelltext bearbeiten]In the case of collections, is it admissible to reference a photo of the building? In the case of archeological sites, is it admissible to reference a photo of a building standing in the same place? If not, what would be an appropriate photo?
