Andrei Voinigescu
Legal Counsel, Wikimedia Foundation
About me
I am interested in the impact of technology and its regulation on society, open source/open culture communities, and free speech issues. Before joining the Wikimedia Foundation, I worked in private practice in the United States and Japan and interned at the Software Freedom Law Center.
I have a J.D. from Columbia Law School and I am licensed to practice law in New York. When I'm not lawyering, I love to scuba dive, take photos, travel, hike, and learn new things on Wikipedia.
My work
I work on contracts, trademark licensing, and general legal threats.
Disclaimer: Although I work for the Wikimedia Foundation, contributions under this account do not necessarily represent the actions or views of the Foundation unless expressly stated otherwise. For example, edits to articles or uploads of other media are done in my individual, personal capacity unless otherwise stated. The legal team can only represent the Wikimedia Foundation on legal matters, so we are unable to give legal advice to others, including community members, editors, or contributors.
