GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Clipper borrowed the One-Twenty's engine, but had a compression ratio which provided five more horsepower. The Clipper's wheelbase was 127 inches (same as was the One-Twenty) and the smallest Super-8, though the chassis was thoroughly re-designed. What the Clipper didn't borrow from any other Packard, of course, was its unique new look. Only one body style was available in Model 1951 (a four-door sedan), and it was priced at $1,420 (midway between the One-Twenty and One-Sixty). The Clipper was lower than any other Packard on the market, and wider than virtually any other car in the industry. Its pacesetting styling would be carried in many Junior and Senior Packards for the Twentieth Series.
