Dirk Eddelbuettel ist ein kanadischer Statistiker, Programmierer und Wissenschaftler. Er ist der Autor des open-source Paketes Rcpp, das in der Programmiersprache R geschrieben ist. Dieses Package stellt ein Interface zwischen den Programmiersprachen R und C++ dar.

He is the author of the open-source software package Rcpp,[1] written in the R programming language, and has also written the textbook Seamless R and C++ Integration with Rcpp[2] on the topic.[3] He is co-founder of the R In Finance Conference. In addition, he has contributed to many packages in R as well as the Debian project. He works as a senior quantitative analyst in Chicago.[4]

Early life and education

Eddelbuettel has an M.Sc in Industrial Engineering (Comp.Sci./OR) from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. He received an M.A. and a PhD in Financial Econometrics from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) in France.[5]

has been a contributor to CRAN for over a decade and maintains around twenty packages. He is the Debian/Ubuntu maintainer for R and other quantitative software, edits the CRAN Task Views for Finance and High-Performance Computing, is a co-founder of the annual R/Finance conference, and an editor of the Journal of Statistical Software.[6] He is a member of the R Foundation.[7] He has contributed to R-Hub.[8]

Eddelbuettel has been interviewed by Data Science Los Angeles and others.[9][10] He frequently gives talks to the R community.[11][12][13]
