QuickEdit

QuickEdit I

Hallo ASM, dein QuickEdit-Skript habe ich gleich mal ausprobiert. Es funktioniert überraschend gut und schnell. Vielen Dank dafür! Würde es viel Aufwand für dich bedeuten, den Textbereich mit dem Attribut accesskey="," zu versehen? Beim Navigieren zwischen Formularelementen arbeite ich vorwiegend mit der Tastatur. Die Möglichkeit, mit der gewohnten Tastenkombination ins Editierfeld zurück springen zu können, habe ich vermisst. Vielen Dank --Wiegels „…“ 07:24, 12. Aug 2006 (CEST)

Hallo, Danke fürs Testen und für die Anregung. Ich habe jetzt 4 Accesskeys eingefügt, s, p, a und "Komma". Bis auf das a (für abbrechen), welches sonst nicht vorhanden ist, entspricht das ja den gewöhnlichen Accesskeys der Bearbeiten-Seite. Ich hoffe und denke, dass es so in Ordnung ist. ×ASM× 14:16, 12. Hallo ASM, danke erstmal für die spontane Umsetzung meines Wunsches. Die übrigen Tastenkombinationen sind auch hilfreich. Der Buchstabe A ist zwar schon im Einsatz, aber nur auf Spezialseiten, die ja nicht editierbar sind. Bei der Gelegenheit möchte ich noch einen weiteren Wunsch äußern. Könntest du die Tabulator-Reihenfolge so ändern, dass bei Navigation mit der Tabulatortaste das Zusammenfassungsfeld wie gewohnt direkt vom Textbereich angesprungen wird? QuickEdit II

du schriebst hier Elemente werden beim Wiedereinblenden immer als display: block; angezeigt (meistens richtig, aber u. U. falsch (z. B. bei der TOC)) -- setz den style einfach nicht auf "block" sondern auf null, dann nimmt zumindest firefox wieder das, was aus dem CSS kommt. -- ∂ 01:16, 13. Aug 2006 (CEST)

QuickEdit V

Einfach nur Geil, vielen Dank dafür. Vor allem so schnell! Was ich noch unvollkommen finde, bei der Vorschau landet man doch wieder im alten Vorschaumodus, und wenn man auf den Back-Knopf im Browser geht, ist man aus dem Quickedit ganz raus.

Also, so eine Vorschau im Kontext der Seite wäre doch cool. Das Editfenster könnte dann eingeklappt oder niedriger ausfallen, oder ganz entfallen (oben nur die Rote Vorschauwarnung), man muss erneut auf Quickedit klicken, um weiter zu editieren.--Löschfix 17:11, 1. Sep 2006 (CEST)

An eine Inline-Vorschau dachte ich auch schon. Das ist prinzipiell auch das gleiche wie das Absenden des Formulars per Ajax (was momentan nicht so ist). Also schon eine vergleichsweise größere Änderung. Möglicherweise werde ich es noch einbaun, mal sehen. ×ASM× 18:13, 1. Sep 2006 (CEST)

Quickedit VI

Wie wäre es denn, wenn man mit dem Quickedit die Option verbinden könnte, zum letzten (eigenen) Edit hinzufügen ohne History-Vermerk, also im Sinne von Zusammenfassen von Edits. Aber dazu müßte wohl die MediaWiki geändert werden, ist ja auf der Todo-Liste angedacht.--Löschfix 17:16, 1. Sep 2006 (CEST)

Ja, dies liegt meiner Auffassung nach daran, dass Firefox bzw. die JavaScript-Engine von Gecko Leerzeichen zu Beginn wegtrimmt. Daran ist wohl nichts zu ändern. ×ASM× 18:11, 1. Sep 2006 (CEST)

Jetzt nicht mehr ... könnte an dem MarkAdmin-Script gelegen haben. Das MarkAdmin-Script lädt die Datei [1] vom Toolserver, und der scheint momentan down zu sein. Warum es zweimal angezeigt wurde weiß ich nicht, möglicherweise wurden die OnLoad-Funktionen zweimal ausgeführt. ×ASM× 16:44, 11. Sep 2006 (CEST)

QuickEdit VIII

Ich glaube ich hab noch einen BuggelBug gefunden. Normalerweise, wenn man in dem normalen Editfenster ein Wort doppelklickt, wird es markiert. Auch dann, wenn man den Doppelklick zum Editieren der ganzen Seite eingeschaltet hat. Macht man das ganze in quickedit, geht die Editierfunktion der ganzen Seite an, anstatt dass das Wort markiert wird. Ist noch ein kleiner Schönheitsfehler.--Löschfix 23:58, 12. Sep 2006 (CEST)

Und noch ein seltsamer Effekt tritt bei mir im Zusammenhang mit den Navpops auf. Diese sprechen auch in dem Quickeditfenster auf Links an, die Popups frieren dann aber ein und lassen sich offenbar erst durch Click auf Vorschau sinnvoll entfernen, um weiterzuarbeiten.--Löschfix 17:29, 16. QuickEdit IX

Weil du das mit dem Editfenster so geschmeidig (ich meine quick) hinbekommen hast, und mein Browser, bzw. Rechner sonst immer sehr viel Zeit mit dem redraw zubringt, gibt es keine Möglichkeit eines teilredraws bei der Vorschau oder beim Speichern? anstatt dass immer das ganze fenster redrawt wird? QuickEdit X

Seit an den Bearbeitenknöpfen irgendwas gedreht wurde, sind die QE-Schalter nicht mehr da (Ausnahme ist Section 0). Kannst du da am Code was ändern, damit das wieder geht? TZM –– Unterstützt die Toleranzkriterien 10:53, 22. Okt. 2006 (CEST)

QuickEdit, again

I used QuickEdit succesfully on the English wikipedia until recently. However, the QuickEdit links stopped working some time in the last month or two, except for the one at the top of the page for editing section 0. Do you know why? Lupin.en 22:12, 10. Nov. 2006 (CET)

The same error was reported right above (topic QuickEdit X) and I think I have fixed it, at least for the German wikipedia. Have you tried to reload the script (refresh via Strg+Shift+R)? ×ASM× 22:16, 10. Nov. 2006 (CET)

It seems to be broken on en again, although it works on de. The problem actually seems to be with very long pages, such as my talk page on en, or for example Schurken im Batman-Universum. When I click one of the last quickedit links on such a long page, firebug says that the ajax bit is working, but the section simply disappears without ever being replaced by an edit box. Also, the graying out of the other QuickEdit links doesn't work. Lupin.en 11:21, 18. Nov. 2006 (CET)

This patch seems to fix things for me - the issue was that only the first two digits in the section number were being picked up, so the script didn't work for sections numbered with 3 or more digits. Lupin.en 12:26, 18. Nov. 2006 (CET)

QuickEdit on italian wikipedia

Hi there,
thanks for making quickedit. It works for me on the English wikipedia, but not on the italian version: it says "loading data..." and stays there. My monobook.js is at it:Utente:Alfio/monobook.js. What could be wrong? Ciao, Alfio 21:02, 6. Jan. 2007 (CET)

I took a look at it and I think the error occurs because the Italian Wikipedia doesn't produce XML-confom output in the edit pages. Although tiny XML errors don't affect the output itself, JavaScript cannot parse XHTML pages with errors. I had a simelar problem with the German Wikipedia because the article heading was not properly HTML-escaped.

I think on wp-it the old-style <br>'s (instead of <br />) were the reason, at least it worked with the page I have tested it. I have added another workaround to replace all of the <br>'s with <br /> so that the pages can be parsed properly. Try it out... ×ASM× 22:50, 6. Jan. 2007 (CET)

I tried the current version of QuickEdit on some random pages on the it-wp and it always worked. Are you sure you are using the current version of QuickEdit and no old one in the cache or somewhere? I use an official monobook where quickedit is added, I compare the italian version with yours, and is identical, except for translation, I'm the only one who it doesn't work. The problem occurs in every page of it.wiki. Skyluke 21:12, 17. Jan. 2007 (CET)

I'm sorry I can't reproduce the error. I also tried it with the translated version and it worked fine. Do you have any messages in the JavaScript console or anything else?

By the way, translating the whole thing could have been easier because you can add as many languages as you want in the array field which is at the bottom of the script. You would just have to add one line in qeSetLang() and it would work. Another thing, the 'KEY:F' is not replaced because the phrase name doesn't start with a 't', which stands for 'tab'. To fix it, you can either alter the qeSetPrefix function, or just add a 't' at the beginning of the phrase name. The 't'-check is done for performance reasons, by the way (say for instance you have 30 phrases with 5 languages, it would perform 150 regex substitutions but only 25 were necessary). ×ASM× 22:08, 17. I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't have any experience with Safari, and I neither have an idea what could make it crash. The only browser-dependant thing I'va implemented (afair) is the function qeGetStyle. Try to replace it with the function of the original version. Btw, when exactly does it crash? ×ASM× 18:32, 3. QuickEdit 2

So, habe nun QuickEdit etwas erweitert, im Wesentlichen mit der Live Vorschau-Funktion. Auf manchen Seiten funktioniert diese Funktion leider nicht, da JavaScript die Seiten nicht richtig verarbeitet (bis jetzt hatte ich das Problem bei Script-Seiten, da meldet JS einen Fehler bei /*<pre>*/).

Ich bin für sämtliche Vorschläge/Kritiken/Fehlerberichte dankbar. Viel Spaß beim Benutzen!

Dass sie schon drin sind wusste ich nicht, wie wärs mit einem Hint wie beim normalen MediaWiki:Edit. Preview bug

There's some bug with preview, that I noticed on the italian wikipedia. The template it:Template:Vetrina, which is used for features articles, has a DIV block to add a star next to the page title. This seems to confuse the quickedit preview. See for example it:Biodiesel, which has this template in the "collegamenti esterni" section. If you try to quickedit that section, the preview will be wrong. The page validates at w3c.org this time :-) 84.220.100.179 19:46, 10. Jan. 2007 (CET)

Well, the only strange-looking thing I can see on the whole page is that, when you use the live preview when editing the last section, the template box is shown. And that is definately no bug because of the way the Vetrina template works. It inserts the div-block you can see on the preview, and then a JavaScript of the it-wp removes the box and changes the title. Logically, no JavaScript is applied to the QuickEdit preview, so the template is shown as it is.

By the way, line 418 of it:MediaWiki:Monobook.js, which is

document.title = realTitleText + " - Wikipedia";, changes the page title to

Inter-wiki QuickEdit

Theoretically, it should work on any MediaWiki with the monobook skin. You will have to make some changes if the section edit links are not formatted as in wikipedia (a <span> inside the <hX> heading), in this case in the qeChangeSectionLinks function. If you are using another skin, you will probably have to make further changes. Also, check for wikipedia-specific variables and styles, element ids, class names etc. which are used in the script. Then either customize the script or the wiki software. Overall, the script can be used with any MediaWiki site, but there are several wikipedia-specific parts (due to the fact that it was designed for wikipedia). I can't predict which of them need to be changed, you will have to look at it yourself. ×ASM× 10:24, 25. Jan. 2007 (CET)

Quickedit cancel button doesn't work

Two little bugs which become apparent when I press cancel. If I manage to hit it before the text appears, then nothing seems to happen. If I press it after the text appears, then an alert box appears saying "QuickEdit Fehler: qeAjaxResponse" before the quickedit box disappears. Lupin.en 18:42, 7. Feb. 2007 (CET)

The cancel button shall not work while the text isn't loaded. So that is not a bug. I have no explaination for the other bug, but I just noticed that there was an error in the script anyway. I added a thing which will only work on the german wikipedia and didn't test it on en-wiki. There, an error occured. Try it out again now. ×ASM× 17:25, 10. Feb. 2007 (CET)

I'm still getting the qeAjaxResponse error box on this wiki when I press cancel after the text is loaded. The reason I discovered that nothing happens when I press cancel "too early" is that sometimes, when the wiki is being very slow, I am forced to wait a long time (several minutes) for the text to load and I get bored, so do want to cancel the process. QuickEdit translation

There's also one thing, which Lupin.en mentioned above ("Quickedit patch" section). Div with special chars can be named different in different wikis, so it'd be nice to make this parameter, like translations. QuickEdit in catalan wikipedia

Hi,

I've been using QuickEdit in the Spanish wikipedia and it works really fine. The problem was when I try to use that in the Catalan one. I think I do it well, but when I try to edit using QuickEdit, the program starts but only shows Loading data..., during all the time.

I think it has been reported but I don't know which was the final solution. Can you take a look to my monobook (at ca:User:Iradigalesc/monobook.js) and say me anything?

Frage zu monobook.js

qeEnableSection0 gibt an, ob ein QuickEdit-Link neben der Hauptüberschrift des Artikels erscheint. Damit kann man die Einleitung bearbeiten. true ist dabei die Standardeinstellung, wenn du es auf false stellst, sollte der Link nicht mehr erscheinen. ×ASM× 20:44, 11. Apr. 2007 (CEST)

QuickEdit on cawiki

Hallo!

I'm Pasqual from cawiki. I'm interested to use the QuickEdit there, but I find some problems. They are:

1. The ordre of the Edittools options are not the same one in each language.

Hello! First of all, QuickEdit is currently not updated anymore, unless there are suggestions or bug reports by other users. Nevertheless it's of course a good idea to use the original script and not a copy in other wikipedias because in some time there would be a lot of copies among the wikipedias, each one possibly a different version. I can of course include the Catalan translation into the script, just post it here or somewhere else.

The edittools thing isn't too easy to manage; as you said, it differs among the wikipedias. Understandably, I always try these things out at the german wikipedia and then customize it for the others. I will take a look at it when I add your language. ;)

Quickedit in Commons

Your quickedit is the best and work perfectly in Spanish Wikipedia. Nevertheless in Wikimedia Commons seems doesn´t work. Hi, well, that is once again a problem with valid XML. The JavaScript DOM Parser requires valid XHTML pages to work with, but the commons edit page is not, which you can see here. The two errors are caused by the special char bar (where old-style <br>-tags are used) and by the English copyright notice (below the textarea), where one </p> is missing. I wrote a workaround for these errors, now QuickEdit should be working. Nevertheless a commons admin should fix these two errors.

Another thing: since quickedit is designed to work multilingual, it would be no problem to inlcude your translation (as done here) into the quickedit script, so you can include your localized version by using document.write or importPage or whatever and don't need to copy the whole script. Hmm, also dass die Variable nicht definiert war, war in der Tat ein Minibug. Allerdings wird diese Variable sowieso nur dann gebraucht, wenn ein Fehler auftritt. Schreib mal qeShowErrors = true; mit in deine Monobook.js und schau mal, welche Fehlermeldung unterhalb des Seitentitels zu sehen ist (sollte eine kommen). Hi ASM, folgendes kosmetisches Problem gibt's im Opera: Wenn man auf den ganz oberen QuickEdit-Link einer Seite mit mehreren Abschnitten klickt und dann abbricht, bleibt vor der ersten Überschrift (also am Ende des nullten Abschnitts) folgender Code übrig:

Hallo, danke für den Hinweis, habs geändert! Das kam daher, dass nach dem Inhaltsverzeichnis diese eine <script>-Zeile ist (eigentlich untypisch, die im laufenden Text zu platzieren, aber was solls). Die wurde dann, beim Wiedereinblenden des Textes, ebenfalls mit eingeblendet. Hi ASM, in the early 2007 I've copied your tool on it.wiki, adding it to the official monobook italian tools. Now I wish to link directly your tool instead of keep a copy. Hi, thank you a lot for adding QuickEdit and for the translation. I've implemented it, I hope it works (at least it does here on de-wiki when I switch to Italien user language). I really asked myself why the Italian users necessarily need that button. I'd be faster typing the four tildes than moving my hand to the mouse and clicking on a button. But the fact that you don't have the tilde on your keyboards makes it clear. :) I'll have a look at it tomorrow, I hope you don't mind.
Unfortunately, QuickEdit does not work on IE. I did some approaches to make it compatible but gave up after some time. Debugging in IE is really getting on my nerves, you don't get any meaningful error messages, then the IE Dev Toolbar didn't work anymore, and even if you make your script 100% compatible with the current standards, IE produces errors. Thanks. Our code with the signature is there (if you want to copy something). In this version I tried to make it compatible with IE. Now it loads correctly, but when I click on "QuickEdit" it fails sending the qeRequest in the qeGetSection method. I've no experience with Ajax commands, and so I don't know what's the problem. OK, it should work now. I got it run in IE up to that point, too, but couldn't go any further. Maybe IE doesn't accept the XHTML response for whatever reasons. However, I could use MediaWiki's Ajax interface, but I would have to change quite a few things. Also, the special chars toolbar wouldn't be supported (although it only works on de-wiki I think) and I would have to RTFM about the Ajax interface. :) The reason why I didn't use it from the beginning on: I just didn't know it was there. And maybe it wasn't there at that time (August 2006) anyway. But besides IE compatibility, there is (currently) no need to change it. Let me see ... maybe if I have too much time ... ×ASM× 19:24, 27. Oh yes, strange thing what they did in it-wp, using both the display and visibility property. Actually there is no sense in that because display: none hides the element completely and visibility only makes it transparent; so if an element is hidden, the visibility property is ignored anyway. ×ASM× 11:44, 9. Ich hätte trotzdem gerne noch mal deine Meinung zu folgender Argumentation aus der Diskussionsseite erhalten:

Wenn Herr Schmidt Mathematiker wäre, würde er folgende Überlegung anstellen:

automatically resize edit box

The script is excellent! I have a suggestion though: can the edit box be resized to fit the contents of the section? For small sections, it shouldn't need to take up more space than the section contents require. Perhaps it could even grow dynamically as we add text, thus rendering scroll bars unnecessary. QuickEdit special character function

When I'm using QuickEdit on HRFWiki and I click on the special character button, all that appears is a close button. (This is because HRFWiki doesn't have the extension required for the special character function.)

I'm using quickEdit on italian wiki and should be fine if it should be possible to add a button to remove a section and save it without empty the form. Hallo, hast du mal in die Javascript-Konsole geschaut, ob eine Fehlermeldung ausgegeben wurde? Da QuickEdit nicht die MediaWiki-interne Ajax-Schnittstelle nutzt, sondern die normale Bearbeitungsseite lädt (historisch bedingt ;)), ist es wichtig, dass diese XML-konform ist, da sonst der XML-Parser nicht funktioniert. Hast du das mal geprüft? Dies war auch bei Wikipedia schon der Fall, da die MediaWiki-Software Sonderzeichen im Titel nicht richtig codiert hat; damals habe ich ein Workaround dafür eingebaut (Funktion qeFixXML). Sollte diese nicht-XML-Konformität der Grund sein und sich das Problem nicht seitens MediaWiki lösen lässt, könnte man wahrscheinlich auch dafür einen Workaround schreiben. A suggestion

When you save changes in QuickEdit, it refreshes the page; I don't like that. I noticed that Pilaf's Live Preview is getting very realistic - it differentiates between real links and broken links and even renders templates. Special chars

I tried tu use the special chars of your quick edit in this wiki (de.wikipedia.org) and seems don´t work. QuickEdit in Nostalgia skin

Hi there, ASM. First of all, thanks for your kind help. I'm experiencing that error in the Spanish wikipedia, I've overwritten my quickedit.js with the new 2.3 contents trying to fix it, but it's been useless. I'm afraid it could be an inherited error from the main js module, but I've got no idea what's happening.

You can have a look at whatever article in the es.wikipedia.org, the "quickedit" function is marked as "edición rápida", next to the "editar" (edit) link.

I'm trying to debug the code using firebug... I'll let you know if I get anything out of it. Thank you again for your assistance.

Hook für das Laden von QuickEdit

Hallo ASM, ein nettes Skript, dieses QuickEdit! Ein Benutzer hat mich gefragt, ob mein Typografie-Skript auch mit QuickEdit zusammen benutzt werden kann. Diese Funktion würde ich gerne einbauen, bräuchte dazu aber von QuickEdit die Information, wann es geladen wird. Gibt es die Möglichkeit, einen Hook einzubauen, der nach dem Aktivieren von QuickEdit aufgerufen wird? (Technisch wäre das einfach ein Array z.B. mit dem Namen quickEditOnHook, in dem sich die zu ladenden Funktionen befinden. Hi, die Idee klingt sehr gut, das machen wir auf jeden Fall. Die Frage wäre lediglich, wer jetzt wen integriert (also ob QuickEdit das Typografie-Script lädt oder das Typografie-Script sich "einhooked"). Den Hook müsste man in qeMakeForm() einbauen. Ich warne allerdings vor, dass QuickEdit ein paar Designschwächen hat (historisch bedingt, war auch mal viel kleiner angelegt als es mitlerweile ist ;)). QuickEdit lädt momentan zwei externe Scripte (Suchfunktion und Änderungsanzeige), ein drittes wäre also nicht so problematisch. Vom Aufwand her dürften sich die beiden Möglichkeiten nicht viel nehmen.

Was meinst du denn zu den zwei Varianten? Welche würdest du bevorzugen? Ich würde dann in den nächsten Tagen mal ein Update herausbringen. Muss sowieso sein, Sonderzeichen gehen schon wieder nicht (hat wohl irgendjemand wieder mal irgendwas umgestellt) und auf es-wiki geht das Script auch nicht (wie oben zu lesen, warum weiß keiner so recht...). Vom IE wollen wir gar nicht reden, da müsste ich jetzt anfangen die Funktion getElementById neu zu schreiben, weil der meint, bei XML-Dokumenten gäbe es sowas nicht. Verstehe wer will. Ich würde die zweite Variante bevorzugen (Skript hookt sich ein), aus folgendem Grund: Mein Skript soll auch auf „normalen“ Bearbeitungsseiten funktionieren und wird daher normalerweise in die monobook.js eingebunden. Würde QuickEdit das Skript auch noch laden, wäre es bei diesen Benutzern doppelt im Speicher vorhanden. Außerdem könnten auch andere User-JavaScripts so ohne zusätzliche Änderungen am QuickEdit-Code kompatibel mit deinem Skript gemacht werden.

Bei der Platzierung des Hooks müsste man darauf achten, dass das Bearbeitungsformular beim Aufrufen schon erzeugt ist – zumindest das Textfeld (wpTextbox1) wird vom Skript benötigt. – Jowereit (typografie.js) 23:45, 5. Jul. 2009 (CEST)

So, erst einmal herzlichen Dank für das Einfügen des Hooks. Ich habe mein Skript dementsprechend angepasst. Ein kleines Problem gibt es noch: Wenn ich auf „QuickEdit“ klicke, erscheint in der Textbox nicht der Text des zu bearbeitenden Abschnitts, sondern ein Text wie „a280b828e3c541c6c84983145003dff0+\“.

Das liegt daran, dass mein Skript ein zusätzliches Element (div) in das Formular einfügt. Infolgedessen stimmt die Nummerierung der Formularfelder nicht mehr, sodass in der Funktion qeFillForm in der Zeile qeNodes.Form.firstChild.childNodes[5].value = wpEditToken; dieser „EditToken“ in die Textarea statt in das darauffolgende versteckte Eingabefeld „wpEditToken“ geschrieben wird.

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich von meiner Seite da einen Workaround schreiben kann. Eventuell könnte man da in QuickEdit noch etwas ändern, etwa die erzeugten Formularelemente direkt in einem Array zwischenspeichern? Viele Grüße, Jowereit (typografie.js) 22:56, 10. Jul. 2009 (CEST)

Du hast vollkommen recht, das muss ich am QuickEdit-Script noch ändern. Es hat wie gesagt einige Schwächen, die ich nach und nach ausbessere (mit der aktuellen Version sind schon ein paar behoben). Dieses Referenzieren per childNodes hatte ich schon auf der Liste. Ich werds in den nächsten Tagen ändern, kann noch nicht genau sagen, wann. Ich melde mich dann aber. gruß ×ASM× 00:58, 11. • if I copy all the codes it appears [QuickEdit] but it comes out only "Loading data...". Why?
