Discussion about edit filter falls positives

Hi,

Seasons Greetings, I am a sysop from mr-wikipedia (Marathi language).We adopted and using one of edit filter concept from de wikipedia,and created edit filter similler to your Edit filter no. 37

But we came across two type of falls positives,I suppose those may be software bugs and would like to have your openion.

1) On mr-wikipedia we observed atleast in two instances users came for editing after many days gap.But still filter got activated on their first attempt of edit for that day.Say if Number of actions to allow(Anzahl erlaubter Aktionen:): is 3 then filter should get active on fourth action.But in some cases filter got active on first edit of the editor for the day.

On their first edit for the day,an user/editor is not doing any other action , at the most user can see preview multiple times.(And no other user has edited that page for long time.)

So my doubt is whether Number of actions to allow(Anzahl erlaubter Aktionen:): is counting user's preview action before saving the edit and giving falls positives to the filter ?

2) Group throttle by(Regeln für die Gruppendrossel): page;The setting is by obiviously by page.Say I am user(name):ABCD and I am editing page/article named PQR .The Number of actions to allow(Anzahl erlaubter Aktionen:): is 3 and I make 4 edits on article PQR Then I go to page/article XYZ and I make only one edit on article XYZ.

In this case since on page/article XYZ only one edit and simply no other action.My experience and obsrvation is still the filter is counting and throttling this action on article XYZ.Where as as earlier said ,If Group throttle by(Regeln für die Gruppendrossel): is by page I expect filter to wait until my 3 actions on page XYZ are completed,But the filter is not waiting so is this a software bug or need of edit software enhancement ?

Although your Edit filter no. 37 filter is a public filter.Since I do not know German language ,I can not properly exmine individual edits catched by the filter here on German language wikipedia.So I would like to know more about experince and openion from de wikipedia and yours about falls posities to the filter due to above cited two reasons.

Because of above cited falls positives we are not able to use disallow function for the filter and hence looking for your feed back so if necessary we can file bugs at bugzilla.

Hi!

I just tried to reproduce a behavior like the one you described in 1), but I did not succeed. The page preview was not counted.

Nevertheless, iirc there were some bugs in throttling years ago. But I don't know, whether there are still bugs in it. Have you searched already the bugzilla tickets? -- seth 00:24, 21. Dez. 2013 (CET)

Thanks for your active support and feed back. Behaviour as in no.1 happens ones in a while and not always. I also could not reproduce it so may be I need to watch more.

I keep watch on new edit filter bugs , but I have not checked for old bugs. I will do more study on it.

Whenever you get time please also try to reproduce behaviour no. 2 discussed above.
