Mass-Greeting of newbies

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hi Mikhailov. I stumbled across your contributions in de-wp, which virtually consist only of putting greeting-boxes on the talk pages of new users. Please stop this, for several reasons.

Obviously you do not speak german. Therefor you can hardly handle questions of those newbies, who, encouraged by your greetings, think you are an experienced user and think you can help them getting used to wikipedia.

Another reason against greeting everybody upon registering is the following: A lot of people, who register a wikipedia-account don't really use it. They don't use it when they register and they don't in the time following. Probably they only want their own watchlist to keep track of their field of interest or they simply want to show off with the account ('Look at me: I have an account on facebook, on youtube, on flickr and now also on wikipedia... What a clever guy i am...').

It is a well accepted habit in the de-wp only to greet newbies after they have shown some activity by which one can recognize a real interest in contributing to de-wp. This is what several other de-wp-users told you before on german. You can read the de-facto guidelines about greeting newbies on Benutzer:Anneke_Wolf/Wie_man_Neulinge_begrüßt, you can find a rough translation into english with the help of translate.google.com.

So i really plead you to stop those mass greetings on de-wp and leave it to those who have a better knowledge of the habits on de-wp and of the german language. Otherwise probably some administrator might judge your contributions as 'lack of interest in encyclopedic work', which is a block-reason on de-wp.
