Why did you delete my link?

Hello, I'm sorry I'm writing in English but my German is very bad. I'd like to ask you why did you delete a link which I put on Kroatische Sprachepage? I tried putting it several times on the German wiki page about the Croatian language but it got deleted each time. I've put it on several other Wikis and nobody minds it there. It's a site that offers free info and lessons and everything so I don't understand where's the problem (the address is http://learn-croatian.com so you know which link I'm talking about). Could you please reply here on your talk page and I'll return soon to read your answer. Thank you.

Sorry, there is really no need to include weblinks to English pages in the German wikipedia. In fact, many people object all such links which they regard as "advertisements" - I do not agree with this point of view, but I think that we should limit ourselves to links to webpages written in German. --Tilman 00:19, 6. I understand what you mean and even agree with you but what I don't get is why can other sites in English and Croatian be featured then? The first link 'hrvatski jezični portal' is available only in Croatian and what's more it's unusable by anyone except students in Croatian universities that have some special accreditation. The Phrasen link (http://www.hr/hrvatska/language/) is also not available in German as well as Umfassende Linksammlung (http://eleaston.com/croatian.html). I think you should apply the same criteria to all links. The fact that the one I linked has ads changes nothing. It offers more information than the two I mentioned above put together. The second one doesn't even teach you anything about Croatian, it just has links.

You are completely right that there should not be any other English or Croatian links there, and as you may have seen, I have already thrown them out. I only left the "Linksammlung" there because you did not to know English to use it. Best wishes --Tilman 09:11, 8. Aug. 2007 (CEST)

Sventopluk

Hallo Tilman, hier ein Detailproblemchen: Laut Artikel schreibe sich der gute Mann im Russischen <Святополкъ>. Ich dachte ja, der tvjordyj znak sei im Russischen am Wortende abgeschafft. Lieber Christian, das harte Zeichen steht (vermutlich) deshalb da, weil es um die altrussische Namensform gehen soll, und im Altrussischen bzw. Altostslawischen war "ъ" noch ein Vokal. Die altrussische Namensform erschien mir (ich glaube, ich habe sie seinerzeit eingesetzt) deshalb sinnvoller, weil die Korrelation zu Sventopluk eh nur in altrussischen Chroniken und Legenden besteht, während sie dem heutigen Sprachbenutzer kaum noch präsent sein dürfte (wenn der Name Святополкъ überhaupt noch vorkommt). Ich hätte aber nichts dagegen, das harte Zeichen zu streichen, vor allem auch weil das "я" völlig ahistorisch ist, dort müsste nämlich ein ѧ stehen, von dem ich nicht weiß, was normale Browser aus ihm machen. Darf ich als Vorbeilesender vorschlagen, zwei Schreibweisen anzugeben? Eine mit ѧ und ъ als altrussisch und eine ohne beides als russisch. Wenn das Zeichen korrekt ist, sollte man es auch benutzen. Slovio

Hi,

I don't know German well and i hope that you can understand my English (I can write in Russian, if you will understand it better.)

In the last few days i've been trying to understand whether the article about Slovio should be on Wikipedia. I initiated this deletion discussion about it in the English Wikipedia, and it was deemed non-notable and deleted, but now there are arguments about it. I want to be fair and find the truth.

It was translated to many other Wikipedias, but almost all the articles in all the languages cite the slovio.com website as their source. The only source that looked somewhat serious was your paper about it - http://homepages.uni-tuebingen.de/tilman.berger/Publikationen/BergerPlansprachen.pdf . From what i understood from it, you say that Slovio is the most important Slavic-based planned language. Why did you come to this conclusion?

I couldn't find any proof for Slovio's importance anywhere except Wikipedia and slovio.com . Maybe you can help?

It is very complicated to define relevance criteria for constructed auxiliary languages. There was a general discussion about this in the German wikipedia [1], but it ended without result. My reason why I believe that Slovio is more important than other Slavic-based constructed languages is that first of all there are texts in Slovio (most Slavic-based languages have just one or two models text written by the author), and that it is used by other people than the author in some kind of communication. There are two Slovio mailing lists where the author (Mark Hucko) has not been present, at least in the time since I read the lists, and I even doubt that he really writes all texts on the websites connected to www.slovio.com. So I think that Slovio is a project which deserves to have an article in Wikipedia (not only the German!), but of course the article should not simply copy the description on www.slovio.com which is largely exaggerated. The German article is a little bit more neutral and in some points critical. Best wishes --Tilman 07:25, 20. Aug. 2007 (CEST)
