Kurioses

Auch wenn man bei der Schlagzeile glauben würde, dass es sich um einen Kommentar zu unzureichendem Schienenersatzverkehr handeln würde: Es gab tatsächlich vor kurzem einen Schienenersatzverkehr per Helikopter! Und zwar in Braunwald in der Schweiz für zwei Wochen. Die dortige Standseilbahn stellt die einzige Verbindung zwischen Braunwald und dem Tal dar und im Zuge der Sanierung musste sie gesperrt werden und auf Helikopter ausgewichen werden, damit der Ort nicht vollständig von der Außenwelt abgekoppelt wurde.

Entgegen der letzten Meldung hat Wandelndes Lexikon tatsächlich nicht den ersten Platz beim Wettbewerb „Artikel des Quartals“ im September belegt, sondern Ankermast mit dem nachfolgenden Artikel. Herzlichen Glückwunsch (und sorry für den Irrtum)!

Die Doulos Hope ist ein ehemaliges Kreuzfahrtschiff, das durch das christliche Missionswerk Operation Mobilisation unter ihrer Sparte OM Ships als schwimmende Bibliothek und Kulturzentrum eingesetzt wird. Bis 2022 wurde es durch Star Cruises als The Taipan betrieben.  – Zum Artikel …

Neues aus dem Fotostudio

Während einer Fahrradtour durch die bekanntlich weitläufigen Tiroler Höhlenlandschaften schoss 958s dieses Foto. Es zeigt einen 14 Meter langen Erzstollen in Weißenbach am Lech, den man besichtigen kann und von dem es bisher noch keine Bilder auf Commons gab. Zu dem Stollen führt die angeblich längste freischwebende Treppe Tirols (wie auch immer er es mit dem Fahrrad da runter geschafft hat), laut 958s sei die aber gar nicht so lang. Für das Siegertreppchen hat es jedoch allemal gereicht: Beim Wettbewerb zum Bild des Quartals im Oktober 2023 konnte er mit diesem Bild den zweiten Platz belegen. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Letzte Änderungen

• Der Platz zwischen Absätzen in Vector 2022 wurde von 7px in 14px geändert, um der Größe des Textes zu entsprechen. Dadurch wird es einfacher, Absätze von Sätzen zu unterscheiden. [1]
• Die Funktion "Diese Seite standardmäßig sortieren als" im VisualEditor funktioniert wieder. Du musst nicht mehr zur Quelltext-Bearbeitung wechseln, um die Schlüsselwörter {{DEFAULTSORT:...}} zu bearbeiten. [2]

Anstehende Änderungen im Verlauf der Woche

• Diese Woche wird es keine neue MediaWiki-Version geben. [3][4]
• Ab dem 6. Dezember werden Personen, die die Einstellung für "Diskussionsaktivität anzeigen" aktiviert haben, die Verbesserungen der Nutzbarkeit von Diskussionsseiten auf Seiten mit dem magischen Wort __NEWSECTIONLINK__ bemerken können. Wenn dir Probleme auffallen, teile sie bitte mit dem Team im Phabricator.

Zukünftige Änderungen

• Der Prozess zur Abschaltung von Grid Engine auf Toolforge beginnt am 14. Dezember. Betreiber von Werkzeugen, die noch dieses alte System nutzen, sollten die Migration zu Kubernetes planen oder dem Team im Task auf Phabricator bis dahin ihre Pläne über ihre Werkzeuge mitteilen. [5]

Letzte Änderungen

• Auf Wikimedia Commons gibt es mehrere kleine Verbesserungen an der Benutzeroberfläche für den Schritt "Auswahl eigenes oder fremdes Werk" im UploadWizard. Dies ist Teil des Projekts des Teams für Strukturierten Inhalt zur Verbesserung des UploadWizard auf Commons. [6][7]

Probleme

• Es gab Anfang Dezember mehrere Tage lang ein Problem bei der Anzeige der Neulings-Homepage mit dem "Einfluss-Modul" und dessen Graphen für Seitenaufrufe. Dies wurde nun behoben. [8][9]

Anstehende Änderungen im Verlauf der Woche

• Die neue Version der MediaWiki-Software wird auf dem Testwiki und MediaWiki.org ab 12 Dezember verfügbar sein. Auf Nicht-Wikipedia-Wikis und einigen Wikipedias vom 13 Dezember. Auf allen Wikis ab 14 Dezember (Kalender). [10][11]

Technische Neuigkeiten

• Aufgrund der Feiertage wird die nächste Ausgabe der Technischen Neuigkeiten am 8. Januar 2024 veröffentlicht.

Anstehende Änderungen im Verlauf der Woche

• Die neue Version der MediaWiki-Software wird auf dem Testwiki und MediaWiki.org ab 19 Dezember verfügbar sein. Auf Nicht-Wikipedia-Wikis und einigen Wikipedias vom 20 Dezember. Auf allen Wikis ab 21 Dezember (Kalender). Nächste Woche wird es keine neue MediaWiki-Version geben. [12][13]
• Ab dem 18. Dezember wird es nicht mehr möglich sein, Strukturierte Diskussionen als Beta-Funktion zu aktivieren. Die Option für die Beta-Funktion bleibt für Benutzer verfügbar, die Strukturierte Diskussionen deaktivieren möchten. Dies ist Teil der Arbeit an der Einstellung der Strukturierten Diskussionen. [14]
• Weiterleitungen im Modul-Namensraum werden vollständig unterstützt. Die Funktion "Seite verschieben" wird eine entsprechende Weiterleitung hinterlassen und solche Weiterleitungen werden von der Software entsprechend erkannt (z. B. nicht auf Spezial:Nicht verbundene Seiten angezeigt). Es wird auch Unterstützung für manuelle Weiterleitungen geben. [15]

Zukünftige Änderungen

• Die MediaWiki-JavaScript-Dokumentation wird auf ein neues Format verschoben. Während der Verschiebung kannst du die alten Dokumente über Version 1.41 lesen. Rückmeldungen über die neue Seite sind auf der Projekt-Diskussionsseite willkommen.
• Der Wishaton ist eine neue Initiative, die die Zusammenarbeit in der Wikimedia-Gemeinschaft zur Entwicklung von Lösungen für Wünsche, die bei der Umfrage zur Community-Wunschliste gesammelt wurden, fördert. Der erste Gemeinschafts-Wishaton wird vom 15. bis 17. März stattfinden.
