Proposed deletion

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Daniele Pantano is the subject of a "deletion discussion" on the English-language Wikipedia. He (or someone close to him) has been putting up false or misleading information about himself under the user name Invisible Library. He does not have a PhD, for instance. He is a published writer but not a sufficiently notable one for Wikipedia inclusion. --Cosech (Diskussion) 20:34, 20. Apr. 2024 (CEST)Beantworten

The article on English-language Wikipedia has now been deleted. The German article has largely been done by Invisible Library, who also did the English-language article, and is suspected to be Daniele Pantano himself.

The German-language Wikipedia has significantly less strict notability criteria concerning authors. Deletion is therefore unlikely. Your accusation of article falsification is now referred to by a neutrality module. @Invisible Library z. Kts. --Kompetenter (Diskussion) 13:56, 29. Apr. 2024 (CEST)Beantworten
Thank you. I will update the article based on the research I did for the English-language article that was deleted after discussion with other editors there. Referring to the German-language criteria of notability:
  • wenn sich besondere Bedeutung oder Bekanntheit etwa durch einen Eintrag in einem anerkannten, redaktionell betreuten Nachschlagewerk (Enzyklopädie, Lexikon etc.) oder einer vergleichbar renommierten Quelle wie dem Perlentaucher nachweisen lässt,
  • I found no English-language secondary criticism in books or journals. (Note that Pantano writes primarily in English).
  • wenn sie einen renommierten Literaturpreis gewonnen haben,
  • I found no record of him ever winning a lterary prize or being shortlisted for one (though he has described himself as "award winning").
  • wenn sie ein Standardwerk verfasst haben, das in reputablen externen Quellen als solches bezeichnet wird
  • I do not find him referred to at all in reputable external sources (i.e. books or journals of literary criticism, encyclopaedias of literature etc).
  • oder wenn sie mindestens zwei Monografien (im formalen, bibliothekswissenschaftlichen Sinne) der Belletristik/Schönen Literatur
  • Pantano passes this test as he has published several books (in English), as poet or translator. My searches of library collections showed that his poetry was available in a number of places (especially universities he has been associated with). In terms of critical reception of his poetry, after a thorough search I found one newspaper review and one journal review of one of his collections. This was not sufficiently notable for inclusion in the English-language wikipedia but would meet the rules for the German-language wikipedia. English-language editors concluded that Pantano himself was using the article as a means of self-promotion; I shall leave it to German editors to decide on matters here.
