Eigentlich unverständlich, dass über so einen gewaltigen Fisch, der mit zu den weltgrößten Süßwasserfischen so wenig Literatur, Quellen und Belege vorhanden sind, nicht einmal bei Wikimedia Commons gibt es passende Bilder. Das einzig aktuelle sind die Fangbilder der US-Soldaten aus dem Irak. Blinker-Fotoreporter haben es schon seit Jahren versucht, eine Einreisegenehmigung in den Iran zu bekommen, um dort sehr kapitalen Exemplaren von Luciobarbus esocinus nachzustellen, bislang negativ.
