Romanist
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Sorry for writing in English. I believe it is not accurate to mention him as a romanist. Usually, what is considered a romanist is a scholar specialized in romance languages with an extended knowledge of this field, someone who studied it at the university or who is known for making significative researches and knowing extensively several languages. Avril was a merchant, not a philologue; he published a dictionary French-Provençal and some other texts he collected in Provençal but I believe this is not enough to make him a romanist. Lexicographer and provençalist are ok. CaféBuzz (Diskussion) 08:13, 1. Jun. 2023 (CEST)
