Warum hat nur ein Drittel der Neun die Schule abgeschlossen?
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Weiß man, wieso nur drei der Neun die Highschool auch abgeschlossen haben? War das damals normal, daß zwei Drittel der Schüler die Prüfungen nicht bestehen oder sonst keinen Abschluß machen? Es ist von Benachteiligungen für die Neun die Rede, aber ich stelle mir die Neun als (besonders) begabte junge Leute vor, die trotz Gegenwind wenigstens einen Abschluß schaffen. Carlotta Walls Lanier, eine der neun hat mal in einem Interview gesagt, sie hätte wg. der täglichen und teilweise brutalen Übergriffe nach einem Jahr die Schule wechseln wollen. Genauer erinnern kann ich mich jetzt nicht mehr daran, such einfach mal bei Google, wirst schon etwas zu dem Thema finden.

- Minnijean Brown-Trickey

All of the city’s high schools were closed the following year, so Eckford did not graduate from Central High School. However, she had taken correspondence and night courses garnering enough credits for her high school diploma Eckford was accepted by Knox College in Illinois, but she left, returning to be near her family in Little Rock. She later attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, where she earned a BA in history.

Following her graduation from Central High in 1960, Walls attended Michigan State University for 2 years. However, her father was unable to find a job because of the crisis surrounding his daughter, and they moved to Denver, Colorado. LaNier graduated from Colorado State College (now the University of Northern Colorado) and began working at the YWCA as a program administrator for teens.

- Ich hab das mal verbessert. Die WP:en und die Quelle (andere kann man googlen mit "federalized +arkansas") spricht nur von der Nationalgarde, die dem Bundesrecht unterstellt wurde, nicht alle Armee- und Polizeieinheiten. Das scheint ein Fehler in der deutschen Quelle zu sein. --Er nun wieder (Diskussion) 20:10, 25. Sep. 2012 (CEST)
- Im Artikel über Orval Faubus wird allerdings immer noch behauptet, dass auch „alle Polizei- und Armeeeinheiten von Arkansas unter Bundeskommando“ gestellt wurden. Gruß 85.22.20.124 18:49, 2. Sep. 2022 (CEST)
