Pronounce
[Quelltext bearbeiten]I'm QBay in Japan. I'll put this article into japanease. I'd like to know about pronounce the name of this town. Which is correct about "st", /st/ like mittelst or /ʃt/ like Stein? Please tell me. --汲平 (Diskussion) 04:58, 15. Aug. 2019 (CEST)
- That would definitely be /st/. For once, in Northern German dialect you would always pronounce the "st" spelling as /st/ even in words like "Stein" (there is a humourous tongue-twister illustrating this: "Ein Student mit Stulpenstiefeln stolpert übern'n spitzen Stein"), but even if you pronounce the village name in Standard German, after a consonant you would pronounce an "st" always as /st/ . Only Southern German dialects would use /ʃt/. --Proofreader (Diskussion) 04:27, 22. Nov. 2019 (CET)
- Thank you Mr./Ms. Proofreader for polite explanation. --汲平 (Diskussion) 02:53, 13. Jan. 2020 (CET)
