destruction of the town hall

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

I see there is an error in the article. It is written that in 39 the buildings surrounding the town hall burned down and were demolished, and the town hall itself was destroyed only in 45 as a result of the war. This is untrue. In fact, in 1939 it was not just the buildings surrounding the town hall that burned down, because the entire town hall burned down. It was not damaged by the war in 1945. In 1945, the old town buildings on the market square were damaged, including the ruins of the town hall, which were supposed to be rebuilt, so they were demolished. All sources and photos confirm this. The fact that the town hall was destroyed by the war is a typical myth believed even today by the city's inhabitants. To sum up, the entire town hall was destroyed in a fire in 1939. It was set on fire by one of the residents who was drunk and was sentenced for it. [1] [2] [3][4] (1939, as you can see, the entire building burned down, not just the attached buildings.) [5] (page 139 - 141) [6](official city website. "ratusz miejski" section. I can't correct it myself because I don't speak German. --Sssine21 (Diskussion) 03:20, 28. Aug. 2024 (CEST)Beantworten
