In the last few day some of you may have noticed at certain times a message of "lag" in recentchanges or API being in "read only mode". Recently, one of the largest database machines serving dewiki traffic failed. By itself, that should not have caused any problems as we have enough redundancy to avoid load issues. However, a single bot, now identified, started creating more traffic than twice the rest of the other users of the site, and violating the API etiquete. This bot has now been banned and the operator notified (so it may eventually work again, assuming he/she has taking care it will not affect the rest of the users).

We will soon set up new servers to increase the capacity of dewiki, and double the redundancy of the "recentchanges", displaying to avoid further issues in the future. No other traffic (reading, editing, other API queries) was affected.
