Name of tournament articles
[Quelltext bearbeiten]Hello! First of all, I'm sorry for writing this in English. I'm not familiar with the German language.
I would like to know why WikiProjekt Tennis decided to separate the articles of combined tournaments (example: ATP Miami and WTA Miami instead of Miami Open), something that en.wikipedia and other languages do not do.
I am an editor of tennis articles at the Portuguese-language Wikipedia, one of the few to implement the separate model, with "ATP/WTA city", and not the commercial name of the event in the title. Pt.wikipedia's Project:Tennis has few contributors and has been very out of date in the past. I created an account in 2014 and, alone, I implemented structural changes without much resistance.
From time to time, some users appear and question the model, preferring the alignment to the organization of tennis pages on the English Wikipedia.
My message is a request for help. I feel that my arguments for maintaining the model are not strong or convincing enough ("if the ATP Miami and the WTA Miami are the same tournament, why create two different pages?" is one of the biggest questions). I only win the argument because it would take a lot of time and work to remodel the structure. Nobody would be willing to do that. However, all it takes is for one persistent user to perform the task and all my decade-long efforts will be ruined.
Therefore, I need to know the Germanic Wikipedia's motivations for implementing separate model, in order to be able to reproduce the arguments when someone questions them in the Portuguese language project.
Thank you for your attention. --Rafaelfdc (Diskussion) 15:44, 29. Nov. 2023 (CET)
