I am close family, and Maria Cabral has died January 15, a sunday, in Lannemezan, near Tarbes, Hautes-Pyrénées at 8.30 am. The other version, that she died saturday, the 14th january in Paris may be glamorous but is a hasty WRONG/FALSE version of the facts. Some people, that I happen unfortunately to know rather too well, don't care about the facts, or even have any respect for the death or the grieving.
- Unfortunately, you will need a reliable source for that. Regards -- Iwesb (Diskussion) 06:24, 6. Feb. 2017 (CET)
As I have written elswhere, I am Maria's daughter and it is me that gave malgré moi the Information to the Academy. The person in question, the so-called friend who conveyed the so-called facts without checking, did it hastily, selfishly and carelessly, showing a lack of empathy for the grieving or even goodsense, or respect for the memory of my late mother. You can call the Mairie of Lannemezan and they will confirm the information. I don't think you'll go so far as to ask me to show you a copy of her death certificate -- quelle horreur! As for the new photograph I shared it is a gift from my godfather, the famous portuguese sculptor and photographer, João Cutileiro. The photograph shows the top of my head as a baby and my father's hands on my mother's shoulders. I put the author's name on the caption/description. Eventually, I'll talk to the Academy when I'm grieving no more. Is Wikipedia always so disagreeable?
- Well, it is not about disagreeable. Please try to see it from my point of view. Wikipedia tries very hard to provide correct information. Thus, we insist on sources; on information, that is published, that can be verified. Here we have the situation, that a (very weak) source states a date and the place "Paris" and we have a Wikipedia-account (resp. an IP from Lisbon) that claims to be a relative. This can be true, but this could also be false. I am often patrolling the "Recent Changes" and I made the bad experience, that there exist people - for what reason ever - that change information to false information. I personally believe that your claim is true, but this is not yet sufficient to state your edit as "confirmed". I searched on the Internet, but could not find anything, neither Paris nor Lannemezan. I already presented the case to a broader audience here. Concerning the picture, I really appreciate your cooperation. Regards -- Iwesb (Diskussion) 09:41, 6. Feb. 2017 (CET)
