Ausgestalteten Käfige in der Schweiz (und Deutschland)

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hello everyone, as I don't write German as well as I can read it, I'll ask my question in English to make sure I'm understood; feel free to respond in German if you need to though. :) I'm improving the English Wikipedia articles on en:battery cage and en:furnished cages. I'm trying to found out whether the 1991 Swiss law on cages banned all cages from 1 January 1992 onwards, or just the so-called battery cages, and still allowed for so-called 'enriched/furnished/modified/colony cages' (apparently known as 'ausgestalteten Käfige' in German)? Many sources are ambiguous about whether Switzerland banned all cages or just battery cages in 1992, with some implying enriched cages were banned later or are still legal today. The best source I could find was Siegmann 2014, claiming the 1992 Swiss ban was a 'generellen Käfigverbot für Legehennen', with no talk about 'sog. ausgestalteten Käfigen' until the 2012 EU ban on battery cages, implying the Swiss cage ban made no distinction between battery and enriched cages. Similarly, the Zürcher Tierschutz in 2019 implied that the 1992 makes no distinction between types of cages; this distinction only comes up when the later bans in the EU and Germany are discussed. Lukanov and Alexieva (2013) claims 'In Switzerland, cage systems for laying hens, both in conventional and enriched cages, are completely prohibited' in its abstract, but cites no source, nor whether this was allegedly done simultaneously or subsequently. The Ecologist claimed in 2011 'Switzerland has already banned both the battery and ‘enriched’ cage systems', but gives no indication when, and whether they were banned separately or simultaneously by the same 1991 law. Aftonbladet implied the same in 2017.

Another problem is that the sources I found above and several others all heavily contradict each other on when Germany supposedly banned or phased out battery cages (2007? 2008? 2010? 2012?) and when it supposedly banned or by which year it supposedly will phase out enriched cages (2012? 2015? 2025? 2028?). I hope someone here will be able to help me find the information I'm looking for. Perhaps the 1991 Swiss law's text itself explicitly prohibits the use of all cages or both battery and enriched cages? And perhaps those Germany dates were frequently postponed or indicate different things or stages? Greetings, Nederlandse Leeuw (Diskussion) 17:34, 30. Mai 2020 (CEST)Beantworten
