The conference Art History Loves Wiki 2025 – Collections, Archives & Research Data is dedicated to the special features of recording collections - e.g. image collections, catalogs raisonnés, museum collections, research corpora - in Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons and brings art historians together with Wikidata/Commons protagonists.

Die Konferenz Art History Loves Wiki 2025 widmet sich den Besonderheiten bei der Erfassung von Kunstwerken und Sammlungen, – z.B. Bildsammlungen, Werkverzeichnisse, Museumssammlungen, Forschungs-Korpora –, bei Wikidata und Wikimedia Commons und führt Kunsthistoriker*innen mit Wikidata/Commons-Aktiven zusammen.

Venues / Tagungsorte

The event will take place in Munich at WikiMUC and the Central Institute for Art History (ZI). WikiMUC is a meeting place and event venue for Wikipedians from Munich and the surrounding area. The ZI is an institution that combines (image) archive, collection and library. The institute goes back to the Munich Central Collecting Point, where works of art looted after 1945 were collected and examined for restitution. The building houses other cultural institutes, including the Museum for Casts of Classical Works of Art, and is part of the Munich Art Area.

Die Veranstaltung findet in München am WikiMUC sowie am Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte statt. WikiMUC ist Treffpunkt und Veranstaltungsort für Wikipedianer aus München und Umgebung. Das ZI vereint als Einrichtung (Bild-) Archiv, Sammlung und Bibliothek. Das Institut geht zurück auf den Munich Central Collecting Point, in dem nach 1945 geraubte Kunstwerke gesammelt und für die Restitution untersucht wurden. Das Gebäude beherbergt weitere Kulturinstitute, darunter das Museum für Abgüsse Klassischer Bildwerke, und ist Teil des Kunstareals München.
